Today I am feeling hopeful about things to come. I have my interview with DART Paratransit for services. I am hoping I get approved so that I don’t have to spend money on Uber when I need to go places. As it sits now, the nearest bus stop is an almost two mile walk from my house so using the regular transit system is somewhat impractical. Combine that with my autism and sensory issues and it makes riding the bus impossible for me. However, paratransit buses are much smaller and more manageable for me.
I even feel like I am beginning to choose a direction of where I want to go in life. I am between Linux Administration and WordPress Development. I am going to try to learn both and see which one I like better. I already have a lot of experience with Linux, I just need to learn the Red Hat way of doing things. I don’t have much with WordPress beyond being an advanced beginner. I know enough WordPress to put together my own very basic blog which this is based on.
I think it makes more sense to focus my efforts on Red Hat certifications because I already have a strong background in Linux and I daresay that I am pretty good at it. Getting a Linux SysAdmin job would allow me to move into an apartment of my own and lead a better quality life. I just need to buckle down and do the requisite studying. Thus far it’s been challenging but I managed to do a little yesterday and I will do more today. My only concern is the economy and the glut of qualified IT professionals on the market. But now is a good time to skill up and learn.
The better WordPress Developers are also marketing professionals in their own right. I don’t really have the marketing experience so maybe WP development is not right for me and that is perfectly okay. Linux, however, can be a real strong point for me. There are fewer Linux professionals out there than Windows ones. I could make a real career path for myself as a Red Hat Certified Engineer one day. I have the aptitude for it. I just want and need study up.
