We made it to Tampa last night at 9:30 after being on the road for 11 hours, which on the whole, was not too bad. I am used to driving that number of hours from driving an 18 wheeler so that was okay. The weather was awful once we hit Florida and it was driving through tropical thunderstorm after thunderstorm. I have to laugh because I do not understand why anyone would really want to live in Florida. It is entirely too hot and humid for me.
Today we unload the truck at the apartment starting at around 1:30 this afternoon and start to get stuff more or less put away. I do not enjoy moving but I don’t mind helping friends out that are in need. I don’t know if this is a Jewish cultural thing but I was taught that when you are the best man at somebody’s wedding, you become a part of their family. When they need help, you best be there and when you need help, they will be there. I was my buddy’s best man.
After unloading everything, I have to setup my friend’s home network and equipment so that he can work when he has to. That’s easy stuff for this ex-IT guy. My friend has also been generous and is buying plenty of food and drinks. So he is taking care of his driver and helper. So tomorrow I’ll help out by running some errands and basically be a gopher and then on Tuesday is my flight back to Philadelphia.
