The shelter that I volunteer at is leaning on me hard to foster this really sweet all grey kitty. This grey kitty has really long upper fangs that protrude from her mouth that seem to make people pass on adopting her. She’s also really selective with whom she lets close to her. I walked into her cat room and sure enough, she chose me.
This grey kitty purred, meowed, and rubbed her face and cheeks into my hands. The shelter staff say that she’s only effusive with people that she chooses. I sat in a chair with her in my lap and for once all of my cares evaporated away. I felt a sense of peace and relaxation that I have not felt in years. The staff were surprised at how she chose me so they want me to foster her.
This grey kitty named Grey really does not do that well in the shelter. They tell me that if I foster her, I will most likely foster her for the remainder of her life. She’s middle aged now and is not super active or into toys. She’s a big girl but not a chonker. Her bones are just big. I have some reservations about adopting her because I am scared I would do wrong by her.
Life is a daily struggle for me but I guess there’s something to be said for two lives enriching each other: two wayward souls, one feline and the other human. I will discuss the possibility of fostering this cat with several people and see what they think.
