At the encouragement of my social worker/case manager, I am going to attend a partial hospitalization program for the next 14 days starting on Thursday. I think her recommendation makes a lot of sense and it is a good intermediate step between being inpatient at the local hospital and home with free time on my hands. I did the program once before and I found that I really liked the educators and the program was good overall. I have the partial hospitalization program to thank for making a really good friend. Meeting new people is difficult for me and I know that it is a good idea to have a social life, as difficult as that is for me. I also have to start thinking about finding work and what I want to do. My friend found something that looks promising driving a ReadyMix cement truck.
Once the partial program is over, it will really be time for me to go back to work. I would really like to work in the mental health field though because it is something new and different and I want to see if this is something that would enjoy. I do not really want to drive a cement mixer anyway. I also thought about driving a street sweeping truck and there is no appeal in that either. I figure if I am going to go back to work, I’d like to help people and make a difference in their lives.
I am looking forward to seeing Ms. Tangie again as I got so much from her the first time around and she is just a really kind person when I really want/need people in my life that are kind. The more I think about working in the mental health field, the more I really like the idea, especially because I have a mental illness myself. I really and truly want to work with adults that are suffering from an addiction or other mental illness. That would be rewarding and challenging work. Perhaps I can ask people at the partial program that I am attending and express interest in working there. There are all kinds of options.
