One cannot help but be in awe of Bernie Sanders’ grit iron determination. Professional athletes don’t have half of the persistence of the good senator from Vermont. The week’s news of Bernie’s apparent heart attack, while scary, seems to have phased him a whole lot less than his own family and supporters. Bernie’s complexion is healthy and his energy is so high as to be commendable.
Something tells me that Bernie will be today’s FDR. He has made a lifetime of championing the plight of the poor and working classes; a lifetime of care and concern over the environment and people of color. It is my opinion that Bernie will not stop his crusades for us, much like Roosevelt, until his passing. A man with that much passion and drive can only be stopped by simply ceasing to exist.
The establishment continues to underestimate Mr. Sanders. As I have often been told, underestimation is a good position to be in. It allows Bernie to be strategic and effective. The establishment is again underestimating Bernie’s overall health. Had he been in poor health, he would never have bounced back from the stent procedure so quickly. Imagine, by comparison, Donald Trump having a heart attack of any kind. It is not a stretch of the imagination to believe it would be the widowmaker.
So let us table any worries of Bernie’s health and move forward. Let us allow Bernie to be the sole judge of his fitness for presidency. A man who has made a lifetime of trustworthy public service can be trusted to be honest with us if he could not handle the rigors of the campaign trail and/or the presidency.
