I am a Bernie Sanders supporter and I make no compunction about this because, of the candidates that are in the Democratic field, he is the only one that is trustworthy. His trustworthiness can be summed up in this graphic below:
Trustworthiness is sticking with your position, no matter which way the winds of politics are blowing. The essence of trust is standing up for what is right and wrong without calculation of popularity of any kind. Of all of the politicians, Bernie has consistently advocated for policy that benefits the poor and working class. He has tirelessly championed the causes and been the voice for those whom have none.
Bernie is more activist than politician and this is probably why he consistently gets re-elected in Vermont, a state which is decidedly conservative. Even those that disagree with Bernie’s ideology, at least know that he is a decent and honest public servant precisely because his entire career has been spent championing victims of a cruel society designed to reward the wealthiest of its citizens and leave the rest to grinding poverty and social instability.
Nina Turner’s now famous speech about the measure of a man is who Bernie is. When a Jewish man is welcomed and lauded in an Islamic Convention, you know that man can be trusted to be speak for all. This is why Bernie has my unwavering support. Even if you’re one of the working class that disagrees with Bernie on many fronts, you can take some solace in knowing that he will fight for you.
