Despite the difficulties in getting back into Information Technology, I am going to further my education on my own via Udemy. The costs of the courses are very reasonable and I think I can make my resume look a lot better with a course in Python for Network Engineers and a course that will prepare me for the Amazon Web Services Certified Solutions Architect. The more I can learn and the more I can plug int my resume, the better.
Unfortunately, the work that I can land right now is well outside the scope of Information Technology, but so be it. I will have some money coming in the door and I can use the times and days that I have off to do a deep dive into more education. Since I did so well and completed the class in Cisco Certified Network Associate, it’s time to maximize progress while I feel the motivation. I think I might add a course to become a Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator as well.
I am going to spend the next 6 months making myself more marketable. I might be able to overcome a lack of experience by obtaining as many certifications as possible. I think that the aspect of learning will also help keep my mood stable and relatively happy. Even if the education does not help my employment chances, maybe there will be other benefits; it would be nice to have more self-esteem.
Despite the lack of immediate employment results from the Cisco education, I see that it has re-ignited the learning fire. It’s helped me to see that I am not old and incapable: I can learn and grasp things. A friend of mine that is also Autistic who works a menial job said that it is education that keeps him happy. He’s in his 60s and almost completed a PhD in Theology. If he continues his education, then there is absolutely no reason why I cannot do it as well. If for no other reason than mental health and mental wellness.
