The fun of OpenBSD spamd just ended. I had a good run of the bots getting stuck in the tar pit for a little over 1000 seconds and then they re-adjusted to connecting for only 17 seconds at a time. Now I am bored so I just decided to block them altogether. The spam bots are all coming these ranges:
184.108.40.206/24 220.127.116.11/24 18.104.22.168/24 22.214.171.124/24
All of these networks belong to World Hosting Farm, a cloud hosting company in Ireland. It would seem that they do not care about their abuse email address despite having a prominent link on their home page to report abuse. So now, I am just going to keep these networks on a permanent ban because I am sick of seeing them in my spamd logs. Instead, I will see them in my pflogs which I have periodically dumped to a text file so I can easily check to see if they are still active. I wish people would not engage in nefarious behaviour and generally play nicely but this will never happen.
If we can get enough people to permanently block these networks, then maybe somebody at World Hosting Farm, LTD might wake up out of their apathy and take down the infected machines. But I have no hope that anybody will address this because their IP address wind up repeatedly in RBLs and nothing ever gets done.
