Learning Some Things

Now I understand why many hosting providers do not allocate logical volumes to their customers’ virtual private servers. It makes management thereof very difficult. I am converting back to disk images instead of logical volumes. From the reading I’ve done, it’s a lot easier to work with disk images than logical volumes for most uses. Okay, well I learned a valuable lesson here.

One of the really powerful aspects of libvirt is the ability to do these kinds of migrations on live systems so that things go much faster and easier. Obviously, I have a good generalist IT background but this specialty stuff like being Virtual Host Administrator is appreciably challenging. I’ve got some more to learn but this is what the home lab is ultimate for: learning. And learning is something I enjoy to boot.

I had work today from 07:30-15:30 and it was a standing shift all day. This was appreciably difficult due largely to the diabetic neuropathy in my feet. I am in pain but home with my feet up and I took an extra dose of Gabapentin which alleviates some of it. I am just waiting for my sweetheart to get home so we can enjoy some time together and watch some comedy shows. The laughs will be a good thing for me.
